Supporter of the Week 9

.. and to continue our Supporter of the Week.....we give you GRAHAM MCMILLAN. All the way from sunny France, where he now resides (mainly because we won't let him back over) with his good lady Mary (who we would let back in). Cheers Graham.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE STADIUM:
I'm a huge fan of Stade Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux , its not particularly pretty or modern , but the history it has and the atmosphere on game days is phenomenal .
I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience there .
WHAT IS YOUR BEST EXPERIENCE, HOME OR AWAY:
Naturally for me that'll be an away game . Nicos try against La Rochelle December 2019 . What a moment that was , his smile lit up the stadium .
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS SUPPORTER:
I feel part of a family of friends .
You know you're amongst good people when you meet other Warriors supporters .
Camaraderie is an over used word , but it definitely applies here .
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?:
If you mean outside of the Pro14 , that would be my French club UBB (Union Bordeaux-Begles) .. In the Pro14 it has to be Ulster , if I don't say that Mrs Mac will batter me 😄
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST?:
Meeting my pals .

Supporter of the Week 8

Continuing our Supporter of the Week, we give you...........

Phillip/Phillipe/Philip/Philipe van der Speirs (goes under various names for security reasons.
Cheers, nice one.
FAVOURITE GROUND
Probably Allianz. I mean beer in a bag is pretty decent selling point. Also getting to join in with the band with my 🎺 was ace.
BEST EXPERIENCE.
Russell goes long, there it is DTH Van Der Merwe, followed moments later by where's it going, it's going all the way. Week after wasn't too shabby either
WHAT IT MEANS .
Getting lost on foreign countries and always being one step closer to a divorce. Spending a fortune on over priced beers Friday night. Meeting folks from different walks of life that you would never meet normally and forming strong bonds of friendship. Despite the lack of fans in the ground recently having some rugby to watch has been a blessing for my mental health in these times, not always mind you
IF YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW WARRIORS, THEN WHO.
I'd probably stick to just supporting Sale Sharks.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST
The wife proclaiming you off out to the rugby again on a Friday night! Apart from the obvious club house meet ups. I miss the noise, the atmosphere, I still miss the smell of a proper grass pitch 🥺, I feel you get more involved in live sport if you are there. Also the stunning one liners that come from sections of the crowd. Oh and Bovril. #bringbackthebovril

Supporter of the Week 7

This week please welcome Jani Philip.

FAVOURITE GROUND:
Stade Marcel-Deflandre, La Rochelle. I had a great trip there to watch the Warriors play La Rochelle. I went with my friend Gillian from XVI Warrior. The welcome we received from the Home Support was amazing especially the welcome we received at the General Humberts Pub, a good time was had by all and we got the win.
The Stadio Communale Di Monigo Treviso was another. It was one of my first trips away with the Warriors with my friend Tricia. Treviso is a beautiful City, loads of wine and pasta. A good win for us and a Hogmany Team flight home when the boys entertained the supporters on the flight to a karaoke sing song. Have to say Rob Harley had the best voice.
BEST EXPERIENCE:
It has undoubtedly got to be the Pro12 final in 2015. I unfortunately could not get to Ulster due to work but watched it in the pub before night shift. I went to work on a total high and that was obviously due to our amazing win and all the Diet coke I consumed. I did get to celebrate with the Team when they toured in an open topped bus ending up in George Square. The welcome they got was amazing.
Thereafter my friend and I were fortunate to be invited into the City Chambers where a Reception was held for boys by the Lord Provost. Will never forget it.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A GLASGOW SUPPORTER:
I have always been a big rugby fan and Scotland supporter and to be honest put off going to local games on my own but thanks to a group of Glasgow Warriors supporters I met in a pub one Sunday whilst watching a Scotland game, they encouraged me to go to my first Warriors game and I've never looked back and even managed to get my friend Tricia to come along too.
From my first away trip to Connacht then Treviso, London, Montpellier and La Rochelle, I have made so many Warrior Supporter friends. We have the best travelling support I have ever seen as well as the best Home support, the roar at Scotstoun says it all.
We have the best Team EVER, great personalities as well as players and it looks like it's only going to get better next season.
IF YOU WEREN'T A GLASGOW SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
Thats a difficult one. I can't honestly imagine supporting any other Team other than Glasgow. I'm Glasgow born and bred and love my City.
Even when I go on holiday to visit my American family in Chicago, the flag comes with me.
But if I was forced to choose, then I'm Scottish through and through so it would have to be Edinburgh (ouch!) but don't tell my friends I said that, ha! I do like watching Racing 92 play and a trip to Paris is a definite must.
WHAT DO YOU MISS:
It has to be home games at Scotstoun. Watching the Team run out before the game starts, the flags and the roar of the crowds as we cheer the Team on.
I just love my seat in the NORTH STAND. I'm right at the front so, as I'm sure those around me will attest to, I get to jump up and down at all the tries we score and of course scream at the Ref (no one in particular comes to mind) but Mr Clancy probably was one of my favs, ha!, and I got away with it.
I miss meeting up with my friends in the Clubhouse before and after the games, meeting the players who always come in and acknowledge their supporters and also the great work done by the XVI Warriors Committee with raffles, baking etc for great causes.
Its been a tough year for all of us so let's look forward to next Season with positivity and getting back to Scotstoun and supporting our boys.

Supporter of the Week 6

Continuing our Supporter of the Week.. We are pleased to give you Stewart Croll, ably assisted by wee Davie! Have a read, enjoy and say hello to them when we get back to Scotstoun.

FAVOURITE GROUND -
has to be the Altrad stadium (home of Montpellier rugby) this was my first foreign trip away and the reception before the game by the Montpellier supporters club was superb. Amazing stadium that holds just over 15,000, oh to have one like that.. don’t know if it was a good decision to sit next to the Supporters brass band however 🙂
BEST EXPERIENCE -
probably 2 occasions, first sitting at Scotstoun in 2015 for the nail biting semi final win against Ulster, winning it with a late kick and then the brilliant victory in Belfast where we destroyed Munster. Memories like these need to be cherished as they unfortunately don’t come along that often.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS SUPPORTER -
I started following Glasgow away back in the days of matches at Hughenden and then going onto Firhill before arriving at Sctostoun, absolutely love the camaraderie of rugby supporters both home and away and my Fridays nights out at Scotstoun.
Managed to convince my pal Davie who was a diehard Tartan Army supporter to switch sides and come along to watch a decent sport. Since then he hasn’t looked back and we have had some tremendous trips the last few years, particularly to Montpellier, Lyon and La Rochelle going on the charter. Brilliant fun and would recommend it to all supporters to give it a go. Davy now has every bit of kit from the Macron tent and is recognised as soon as he walks in 🙂
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS SUPPORTER THEN WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT -
have always supported Scottish rugby so would go with Edinburgh (boo I hear some of you say!) only having 2 teams we have to get behind both of them.
WHAT DO YOU MISS -
without a doubt missing the Friday nights at Scotstoun and catching up with good friends we have met over the years, really missed the French trips for the Heineken Cup but would genuinely love a completely different trip in the Champions cup somewhere different. Watching on television is not the same as being there and moaning at Clancy 🙂
Looking forward to getting back to normal times hopefully soon.

Supporter of the week 5

Following on in our Supporter(s) of the Week we give you Alison Brown (known to some as Ellie's Mum). On thinking about it, we probably bump into her (and Alison) more at away games than at Scotstoun!

Check out the photos.
FAVOURITE GROUND :
Racing 92 ground, well it means a weekend in Paris and has been a happy hunting ground in previous years with Warriors winning twice over there, champagne was partaken after the game! Haven’t been to the new ground yet but have a weekend in Paris booked for October which we hope will coincide with a Finn home game
BEST EXPERIENCE :
Would have to be the Pro 12 final in Belfast, we actually bought our flights and booked accommodation 6 weeks before the final, very nervous semi-final with DTH’s last minute try taking us to the final but felt very smug when we qualified….never in doubt. Atmosphere was second to none, where the chant of ‘We are Warriors’ was born’ (Editor:debate starts here LOL). Second best would be the Leicester game where we won 43-0, we were running out of things to say to the Leicester supporters at the game without sounding patronising!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A GLASGOW SUPPORTER:
It means you have resilience; we’ve been supporters since the Hughenden days! It means belonging to a club that is very family orientated. The players are all very approachable and interact well with the fans. . the players signing autographs for the kids (and some grown ups) after the game is a really nice touch.
IF YOU WEREN'T A GLASGOW SUPPORTER WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT:
Exeter or Racing for Jonny and Finn……tough one when they were in the European Final but Ellie had no doubt……Jonny all the way.
WHAT DO YOU MISS :
The atmosphere of the East Stand for sure, chatting to the players after a game and also the opportunity to travel somewhere nice to support the Warriors. Those weekends away to European grounds are a loss for the players and supporters

Supporter of the Week 4

Continuing our Supporter of the Week we give you...... David Parr. Each week we select a supporter and get them to answer the same questions. So if you don't know David, you can find out what rocks his boat.

Warning :last photo is not for the squeamish.
FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY?
Favourite ground is The RDS. The layout of it is great, there’s always a buzz around the ground and the Ballsbridge area plus some of the local bars are some of the best around. The supporters are always a good laugh too. Allianz also has a great fan experience.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC, HOME OR AWAY?
Hard to pick between the first visit to the Allianz when the WarriorNation invaded the pitch after the game but it would have to be the day at Ravenhill/Kingspan for the Pro12 Final. The whole thing from the boat trip over, having to stay in Larne and the full day spent in the stadium was the most amazing experience. The win helped too!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER?
Being a Glasgow fan means you’re part of a large family. You can, and often do, bump in to other members of the family all over the world at all sorts of games. It also means being proud of representing this amazing city too.
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
If I wasn’t a Warriors fan I would either only support local rugby at Paisley RFC or I’ve always had a soft spot for Newcastle.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES?
I miss the chats and banter with friends. Small things like seeing the guys and girls who sit next to me, catching up with them about what’s happening and the same with the regular friends we meet in the clubhouse before and after games. I also miss the buzz of the game and I think the players seem to be missing that too.

Supporter of the Week 3

Continuing with our Supporter of the Week...... this week we give you our youngest contributor, so far. Give a big round of applause to Fraser Belmore and have a wee look at his replies and definitely his photos.

FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY?
Allianz Park/Stone X would have to be up there. Being able to wade onto the pitch at the end of the game in the sunshine was cool. Where else could you get forty a side touch rugby? Warriors management take note please.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC, HOME OR AWAY?
Despite losing on the day, the semi final in Dublin stands out for me. Even after a tough game, the players took the time to sign autographs and chat.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER?
Being a Warriors supporter is great. It represents being part of a community of people with a common passion for rugby.
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
I think it would have to be Ulster. Having witnessed the brass band at the Final in 2015, that seemed like something I would enjoy each week.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES?
I miss the excuse for a catch up and a blether with people you otherwise might not see each week… A curry and a pint… And a good game of rugby.
